Packing data is basically a maintenance function.  When records are deleted from Inventory Express, they are actually marked for deletion, but not physically removed until you perform a "Pack Data."  Packing permanently removes deleted records and rebuilds all indexes (sort files).  This can decrease file size and may increase performance if there are a large number of deleted items.


To run, click "Pack Data" from the Main Menu:

For instance, if you perform an import that doesn't go well, want to remove all of it and start over, you should pack after deleting numerous records so you can start again with clean, empty data files.
